Garonga was born from a simple belief: that the most profound safari experiences
happen in intimate settings, guided by passion, and rooted in respect for the wilderness.
The name "Garonga" comes from the Shangaan word meaning "the secret is out," a phrase that captures both the intimate nature of our camp and the privilege of experiencing Africa's wild secrets up close.
Founded with a vision to create a safari experience that prioritizes quality over quantity, Garonga has remained deliberately small. Our main camp hosts a maximum of just twelve guests, ensuring every experience feels personal, every sighting unhurried, and every moment meaningful.
Located in the Greater Makalali Private Nature Reserve, we're surrounded by 26,000 hectares of pristine wilderness—home to the Big Five and countless other species. This protected landscape provides the canvas for transformative encounters with nature.
